Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in the Electronics Manufacturing Facility in Huntsville, AL create unique solutions for complex problems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and ensure manufacturing processes/work instructions are simple, clear, robust, error-proofed, and repeatable.
  • Prepare process flows and assembly work instructions for assembly technicians using an MES system (i.e. Solumina)
  • Support the implementation of change orders and deviations.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities in support of developing procedures/work instructions that will lead to follow-on production
  • Candidate will also work closely with our quality team to develop processes that validate customer quality requirements.
  • Candidate will work closely with production control to meet desired delivery schedule of design team.
  • Candidate will assist with the installation and commissioning of automation equipment, supporting the development and optimization of facility layout configurations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Industrial and Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, etc., or equivalent Engineering Technology degree, with 2-4 years of applicable engineering experience or a Master’s Degree with less than 2 years prior relevant experience in an engineering field is required.
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Ability to multi-task well is also essential.
  • Experience with Costpoint Material Planning software and/or Windchill product lifecycle management software is a plus.
  • Experience in various quality roles is also a plus. Experience in using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is also a plus.
  • Candidate must have experience working with manufacturing engineers and technicians to develop a build strategy and identify any problems that could occur during assembly.
  • Candidate will be required to have the basic computer skills associated with these assembly tasks (such as retrieving the manufacturing documentation from the system, updating the system as router steps are completed, working with Microsoft Suite Applications, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred candidate will have at least 2 years of manufacturing engineering experience on designing and building electronic hardware to government specifications (or similar).
  • Preferred candidate will have knowledge of J-STD and IPC manufacturing standards to include PCBA assembly, cables and wire harness assembly as well as electromechanical assembly.
  • Preferred candidate will have experience with software that maintains bills of materials, and other engineering design data.
  • It is preferred the candidates have knowledge of the tools used for assembly (crimpers, strippers, insertion) and the proper techniques required to use these tools. Basic experience reading mechanical assembly drawings, electrical schematics, and other manufacturing documentation will be required.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $59,150.00 - $106,925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
