Job Description

Executes relevant EHS activities in line with clear policies and procedures at the site/EHS discipline; in order to minimise EHS risks. Entry level professional. May be working towards a professional EHS qualification e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent. Participates in small local projects.

JOB PURPOSE

This position is responsible for providing specialist EHS support to Plant activities and personnel. The holder Is dedicated to one EHS related discipline based upon the risk profile of the site. Reporting into the Plant EHS Manager team, the holder provides expertise in a particular area such as Occupational Health, Process Safety, Chemical Safety Environmental Management, Emergency response etc. The holder has a deep technical understanding of their EHS discipline and advises Plant Management on compliance. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead and implement Process Safety Risk Management (PSRM) initiatives across the site, ensuring compliance with company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement in process safety practices.

    Coordinate process safety activities, including PSMO training, Process Hazard Reviews (PHRs), Management of Change (MOC), hazard studies, audits, gap analyses, and maintaining critical process safety documentation (e.g., PHRs, LOPA, relief design, HAC).

    Monitor and improve process safety performance by tracking Process Safety Performance Indicators (PSPIs), managing Enablon actions, reporting process safety incidents, supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.

    Ensure the integrity of safety-critical systems and equipment by identifying process safety risks, maintaining safety-critical assets, coordinating specialized risk assessments, and engaging with the Group Process Safety Centre of Excellence (CoE) when required.

    Promote a strong process safety culture by conducting safety audits and conversations, participating in regional and sector process safety networks, sharing best practices, and influencing site leadership to achieve process safety objectives and performance targets.

SCOPE

  • Influencing role at all levels within the site organisation up the Site Leadership, providing credible guidance and monitoring consistent application of PSRM activities.
  • Works closely with nominated specialist in Group Process Safety Centre of Expertise (CoE), providing information on site process safety activities/metrics and seeking assistance where necessary.

SPECIAL FACTORS

  • Dedicate the required level of effort to Process Safety Management (PSM) based on the site's hazard level, with an expected allocation of 75–100% of time on high-hazard sites.
  • Regularly monitor and review resource allocation to ensure process safety activities receive adequate attention and continue to meet the site's operational and safety requirements.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS/ KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE

(TECHNICAL/ PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS COMPETENCY)

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or another relevant scientific/engineering discipline. - Desirable
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in operations, process engineering, or technical support within a manufacturing or process industry. - Essential
  • Strong technical and operational knowledge of site processes and manufacturing operations. - Essential
  • Sound knowledge of Process Safety Risk Management (PSRM) principles, policies, and industry best practices. - Essential
  • Exposure to systems like 5S, Kaizen, Problem Solving Tools - Desirable
  • Completion of Process Safety Champion or equivalent process safety training program. - Desirable
  • Having led one or two large support functions outside the area of technical expertise - Desirable
