Howard Financial is a full-service back-office solution for high-growth companies with bookkeeping, payroll, and bespoke reporting needs that require accuracy, timeliness, and institutional-quality reporting without the burden of full-time staff. We are an experienced team of bookkeepers and administrators with multiple decades of combined experience across industries allowing companies to focus on their core business while we handle the rest.

Founded in 2023, our team of ~100 professionals supports ~75 clients across a diverse range of industries. We recently reached $6M of contracted ARR and are growing rapidly (over 200% LTM growth).

We are looking for a hands-on Sr. Controller or Controller to lead our consumer industry accounting portfolio and team. This role is equal parts technical accountant, people leader, and strategic partner.

What You'll Do

• Own the full accounting cycle and lead month-end/quarter-end close
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals
• Drive AI and automation initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and reduce manual effort
• Serve as the primary accounting contact for consumer portfolio clients — building relationships and presenting financial results
• Oversee accounting operations across a consumer industry portfolio, ensuring consistency and accuracy

What You Bring

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on Controller or senior accounting leadership experience
• Deep consumer industry knowledge (CPG, retail, or related)
• Proven experience implementing accounting automations or AI-driven process improvements
• Strong client-facing and communication skills
• CPA preferred; ERP proficiency required
