Job DetailsJob Location: Bournewood Hospital - Brookline, MA 02467Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $17.00 - $26.00 HourlyThe Maintenance Worker/Patient Transport Driver role supports a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors through skilled maintenance, repairs, and preventive measures, in compliance with company policy, state and federal regulations, Joint Commission standards, local building codes, and OSHA requirements.
Tasks may include carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, drywall repair or installation, painting, roofing, mechanical repair, landscaping, gardening, light-duty construction, maintenance, and other duties as assigned. May also be required to perform housekeeping, grounds, security, and patient transport duties as needed.
Employees must successfully complete all required orientation and training and consistently demonstrate professionalism, customer service skills, and the ability to interact effectively with our patient population.
Facility & Maintenance Duties
• Perform preventative maintenance on utilities, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, emergency, and tire systems as assigned.
• Build, repair, and maintain the physical plant, furnishings, vehicles, and grounds through routine upkeep, remodeling, and approved construction projects.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of power tools, hand tools, texturing equipment, paints, varnishes, floor and window treatments, roofing, masonry, concrete installation, and other related construction methods.
• Ensure proper upkeep, cleanliness, safety, and appearance of equipment, shop areas, vehicles, and grounds.
• Respond promptly to facilities requests and work orders in accordance with departmental priorities.
• Conduct inspections and services required to meet Safety Code, Life Safety, and Joint Commission standards.
• Complete assigned projects within established timeframes and communicate delays or changes to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Accurately document preventative and corrective maintenance activities per facility requirements.
• Maintain inventory of materials and supplies and request replenishment as needed.
Patient & Staff Interaction
• Maintain a professional, respectful, and customer-service–oriented demeanor at all times.
• Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with a diverse patient population, including individuals experiencing behavioral health conditions, emotional distress, or cognitive impairments.
• Support patient and environmental safety by observing and reporting hazards, unusual behavior, or safety concerns to appropriate staff.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with clinical and non-clinical staff regarding maintenance, safety, and operational concerns.

• Successfully complete all required orientation, safety training, and ongoing competency assessments.
• Adhere to all facility policies related to confidentiality (HIPAA), safety, infection control, boundaries, and professional conduct.

Qualifications:
CPL CPR and First Aid
Valid Driver's License
Minimum of two years’ experience in the maintenance or construction industry required.
Able to use or compute basic mathematical calculations, read and interpret safety rules, manuals, maintenance procedures and job assignments/ instructions.
Able to read blueprints, shop drawings, or other work citations and diagrams to determine the preferred procedure for constructing buildings, structures, cabinetry, and other plan operation systems.
Able to converse in English with others to give, take, and process information: extensive use of telephone. Able to maintain confidentiality of information, multi-task, coordinate projects and record/transcribe general and specific meeting minutes. Able to work independently and collaboratively. Able to communicate with other staff to relay concerns and observations involving patient safety.
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
