Job DetailsJob Location: Bournewood Hospital - Brookline, MA 02467Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $19.00 - $25.00 HourlyJob Shift: Per DiemPosition Summary:
The Dietary Aide provides overall support to the Dietary Services department.
Essential Job Function:
Cleans and sanitizes juice machines and other areas within the Dietary Department; maintains the overall cleanliness of all dietary areas.
Works posted schedule including holidays
Sets up tables for patient meals.
Records temperatures from dish machine on to temperature chart.
Serves meals to patients.
Prepares and delivers snacks to units.
Washes dishes in dish room
Puts away orders into walk-in refrigerator, freezer, store-room and kitchen making sure all products are rotated. (FIFO).
Sweeps and mops floors.
Takes out the trash.
Demonstrates appropriate sanitation methods.
Interacts with patients and staff in a respectful manner.
Records refrigerator temperature.
Wears assigned uniform and performs any other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Assists the cook & Dietary Supervisor in food preparation and serving meals.
Responsible for maintaining par levels of snacks, delivering and rotating snacks to the units daily.
Cleans, organizes and maintains designated snack areas on the units.
Essential Competencies:
Strong interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of sanitation requirements
Knowledge of Hazard Communication Standard.
Knowledge of MSDS Sheets.
Knowledge of appropriate food handling and food procedures.
Must be able to participate in activities that enhance professional growth and development.
Must be able to comply with facility safety, infection control and security program.
Demonstrates conduct in keeping with Bournewood’s ethical standards.
Able to support the facilities internal and external customer services standards.
Machine, Tools, Equipment used on the Job
Stove, oven (standard and convection), steamer, food carts, grill, slicer, food processor, electric mixer, knives, spoon, forks, dishwashing machine, dishes, pots/pans, peeler/spatulas/tongs/serving utensils, trash bins, microwave oven, toaster, sauce drink dispensing machines, coffee maker, mop, broom, bucket, sanitizing materials, food and other supplies, telephone, food serving trays, gloves/mitts, fax machine, heated food delivery system.
QualificationsExperience and Education:
High school diploma or GED
Must be comfortable working with adolescent, adult, and various psychiatric populations.
Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
Must be able to concentrate on work amidst distractions such as noise, conversations, and foot traffic; must be able to consistently meet deadlines; and finish all preparations at specified serving times; must be flexible in work hours in order to meet patient and organization operating needs.
Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer service interactions.
Must be able to use kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers, and dishwashers; knowledge of essential hygiene factors involved in food preparation; knowledge of cleansing products and the appropriate methods of cleansing a variety of surfaces.
Must be able to work independently, in a restricted physical environment for extended periods of time.
Must have the ability to perform several tasks concurrently.
Must have skills in maintaining information as highly confidential.
Must respond to persons served with kindness, respect, and compassion
Must refrain from judgmental and/or punitive responses
In case of challenging clients or situations-contact clinical staff as soon as possible for support
