The Lead Buyer – Factory Procurement is responsible for Vendor Development, Supplier Quality, and Operations Excellence. The role requires strong technical acumen, in depth technical knowledge of manufacturing and machining processes.
How You'll Make an Impact (Lead Buyer - Factory Procurement, TI-STG, India)
Vendor Development
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and technical capability.
- Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments.
- Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and approval processes.
- Work with clear targets to achieve OTD and ScNCC targets.
- Support Development of alternate suppliers for business continuity and risk mitigation.
- Support in localization initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and cost reduction.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
- Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with suppliers.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mitigate supply risks through alternate sourcing strategies and contingency planning.
Cost Optimization & Value Engineering
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiation, value engineering, localization, and long-term agreements.
- Support standardization and specification optimization efforts in collaboration with engineering.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical standards, and applicable legal and contractual requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and audit-ready records.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline preferably Mechanical/Industrial/Production.
- 12 to 15 years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Vendor Development, Supplier Quality, and Operations Excellence.
- Strong expertise in machined components for Steam Turbine.
- Support in localization initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and cost reduction
- Sound understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex projects
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
