Let me tell you about the role
The Buying Channel Engagement Manager role will support bp’s global push to standardise and optimise Procurement operations. You will work across a range of bp P2P systems to implement buying channels that drive efficient procurement, comply with procurement policy, and align to business requirements.
This is a global role and will offer the opportunity to work alongside a wide range of internal teams (bp Procurement S2C, bp Procurement P2P, bp Technology) and external partners (bp Suppliers)!
What you will deliver
In this role you will be responsible for the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of bp P2P buying channels, which support Auto-PO transactions and price compliance outcomes. You will work cross-functionally within the Procurement S2C organization to identify P2P buying channel opportunities, qualify those opportunities, and coordinate delivery activities belonging to various implementation teams!
Key responsibilities:
Lead the team. Set clear direction on what success looks like, and how it will be measured. Provide direct support to team members in guiding delivery, reviewing work, and individual development.
Identify Suppliers that are a strong fit for buying channel implementation. Work with spend data for existing suppliers and with our Category / Sourcing teams for incoming suppliers.
Build a delivery funnel of buying channels to be implemented e.g. Catalogs, Custom forms, Invoice against contract, that enable Auto-PO transactions and price compliance.
Handle buying channel implementation activities belonging to various Procurement teams ensure that Procurement, Business, and technical requirements are met at each stage of our internal workflow e.g. Ensure contracts in SAP Ariba Contract Workspace are accurately structured and mapped to support downstream P2P and Auto-PO functionality.
Develop and drive measures of success e.g. Auto-PO transaction rates, Buying channel utilization rates. Acquire a strong understanding of our metrics, with particular focus on areas where we are “Amber” or “Red” and identify next actions to drive improvements.
Partner with Category Managers. As a starting point, understand their category strategy – what is their Supplier strategy? What is their Sourcing approach? Are there risks unique to their category? With these considerations in mind, find ways to enable their category strategy through thoughtful buying channel design.
Establish self as a subject matter expert on buying channel use cases, technical requirements, technical constraints, and provide training and ongoing guidance to bp users. Stay current on P2P technical developments and standard processes, and make recommendations to our Procurement teams where necessary.
Inspire change management. While this is a technology-focused role, you will also need to tackle for people or process issues e.g. Business users that are buying in a way that does not align with Procurement policy. These issues are often complex, and will require both deep familiarity with S2C / P2P workflows and keen project management skills.
