We also utilize combination presses that can combine the different printing technologies and run them together with cold and hot foil. CCL has state-of-the-art finishing equipment in place to supply labels that live up to, and even exceed, customers’ expectations. Included are process parameters like the reel winding and slitting tolerances. Material and/or printing defects can be detected by automatic camera inspection systems and are easily eliminated by the operators.

We are currently hiring for a Buyer/Planner that will fill an integral role on our Purchasing team.

Qualifications

This position is an integral part of the purchasing team and is primarily responsible for materials management and to purchase and plan materials for production. The role will monitor and ensure raw materials (substance, ink, tooling and corrugate) and MRO’s are ready as production schedule warrants and acquire materials and services to meet company standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Gathering and sharing appropriate information and ensuring targets are met and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment is essential.
  • Material planning to include review of production schedule to ensure material availability to avoid production delays.
  • Maintain inventory and consignment inventories to meet production needs.
  • Enter purchase orders into the system ensuring timely placement and delivery of components in line with production planning requirements.
  • Expedite and reschedule open purchase orders to suit production planning requirements.
  • Interact with production planner, project managers and sales to understand the demand.
  • Share, communicate and report on variances to both internal and external supply chain.
  • Research, identify and correct material inventory discrepancies.
  • Provide input in developing departmental strategies for inventory on existing items, new product introduction and phase outs.
  • Improve relationships among planners, sales, production supervisors and quality which will lead to effective knowledge sharing and optimizing the forecast to better guide the company.
  • Execute with excellence in the area of stock and demand replenishment providing feedback to the supply chain on risks regarding replenishment levels and demand.
  • Coordinate all imports including freight, insurance and duties.
  • Coordinate temperature-controlled shipments for incoming material.
  • Create generic specification sheets.
  • Maintain product specification database.
  • Support the purchasing team to ensure continuous improvement, add value to the organization and work alongside all departments within the company to achieve results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience of statistical reporting, forecasting, and understanding for financial and operational impacts of forecasting
  • Competent IT skills in Microsoft Office and exceptional skill level in Excel.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Must be conscious of efficiencies, performance, costs, quality and safety.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Skilled in time management and prioritization

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Preferred 4 years’ experience in planning or purchasing role in manufacturing setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms above and below shoulder level
  • Regularly stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Regularly remain in stationary position for extended periods
  • Frequently communicate in some manner either by speech/hearing or through written communication.
  • Regularly use of vision abilities including close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally work around moving machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Occasionally required to push/pull.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
