Job Description

We are looking for a Buyer, Retail Products

As a Buyer, Retail Products, you will play a key role in researching, selecting and purchasing products for the gift shops at our two museums. You will also contribute to the development of branded museum products, merchandising, and administrative tasks related to purchasing, and support other related activities.

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in:

  • Product purchasing in a retail environment; experience in the tourism or cultural sector is an asset.
  • Researching and recommending products for resale
  • In-store merchandising techniques
  • Budget management and purchasing or procurement processes
  • Using the following software:
  1. Microsoft Office
  2. Microsoft Dynamics NAV (or another similar financial reporting software)
  3. Counterpoint (or another inventory software)

You have knowledge of:

  • Targeted purchasing trends in a tourism or cultural retail environment;
  • Computerized systems for inventory management, stock control, and purchasing;
  • The Canadian Museum of History (CMH) and Canadian War Museum (CWM)’s mandates;
  • Purchasing methods and procedures.
  • Marketing and product development.

Education: A degree in Business Administration, Purchasing Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: $ 70,034 to $ 86,674 (E5)

Status: Permanent Full-Time Position (# 9980-01)

Security Level: Reliability Status

Location: 100, Laurier Street, Gatineau, Quebec
