Job Description

We are currently seeking a motivated Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing inventory levels, purchasing materials, negotiating best price and ensuring timely delivery to support our manufacturing operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain stand alone and blanket purchase orders and supplier schedules based on MRP action messages and new engineering change orders
  • Manage and expedite open orders or blanket releases to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Review and process plant requisitions
  • Aid in negotiating contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate price to hit Purchase Price Variance plans and targets
  • Negotiate improved lead times and monitor consumption to ensure right sized inventory levels
  • Update and maintain accurate item and vendor records
  • Resolve issues related to order discrepancies, vendor invoices, returns and shipping errors
  • Proactively communicate any material issues or delays with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Collaborate with a cross functional team, including Sourcing, Quality, Production and Engineering to meet operational goals

REQUIREMENTS

  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of products, ERP experience a plus
  • Good attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • BS or BA from accredited 4-year college preferred.
  • One year of procurement activities in a manufacturing environment preferred.
