About this job

The Buyer manages day-to-day purchasing of outsourcing services and operational hardware. The role is responsible for placing purchase orders, negotiating prices and delivery, managing supplier relations, and working closely with Production Control, Engineering, Quality, and Receiving to resolve material issues and maintain accurate ERP data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned commodity categories and supplier relationships.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to determine if a quote is necessary and analyze responses. Create and maintain purchase orders based on MRP.
  • Track purchase orders and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to improve competitiveness and supply continuity.
  • Negotiate pricing and lead times within established guidelines.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
  • Support strategic sourcing initiatives and continuous cost-reduction efforts.
  • Resolve supplier shortages, delivery delays, and quality issues while minimizing operational impact.
  • Partner with quality or engineering to resolve supplier issues or concerns, including timely returns to the vendor
  • Responsible for supplier performance and metrics
  • Performed other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or 5 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or warehousing.
  • Experience supporting supply chain duties in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong negotiation, communication, organizational, and Excel/MS Office skills appropriate to the assigned level.

Preferred

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting global suppliers and cross-functional operations preferred
  • Experience in Oracle and Power BI is preferred

Salary Range


Non-Bay Area Target Salary Range: $49,500-$76,500 DOE
