Job Description

Who will you be working with?

Vapor Stone Rail Systems is a part of WABTEC Corp and has been in Plattsburgh NY since 1998. We offer a wide range of products and services for trains including HVAC units, Doors, Door systems along with an array of aftermarket parts and services.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the team at Vapor Stone Rail Systems, you will be responsible for the coordination of activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies.

  • Must be able to work in cross functional team setting.
  • Resolve material shortages in a timely manner to meet production schedules.
  • Reviews requisitions and prepares purchase orders
  • Maintains ongoing communication with related departmental personnel to ensure timely and accurate procurement of materials / services
  • Maintains computerized procurement records in Oracle, such as items or services purchased, cost, lead time, accounting term, delivery arrangements, comments, etc.
  • Follow up with related departments to ensure acceptable material is received and vendors are paid within terms of purchase order,
  • Handles invoice referrals.
  • Expedites delivery of goods to users.
  • Team player and strong professional inter-personnel skills for effective communication with vendors, clients and related departmental personnel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under stress. Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of supply chain management concepts (identifying and eliminating redundant costs and non-value-added procedures. etc…)
  • Must be able to read, write, speech English. Read, write and speech French is a plus.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates should have knowledge of purchasing processes. Proficient understanding of Oracle system or any other ERP systems. Proficient with the MS Office products and Excel (V-Lock Up and Pivot Table) strong computer skills

EDUCATION:

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • From 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred

  • Communication Skills

What will your typical day look like?

  • Working with team or self in our warehouses which includes 2 onsite as well as one off site location.

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Standing, bending, twisting or sitting for 8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Wearing PPE including but not limited to hearing protection, hard hat, bump cap cut resistant gloves at various times based on current project.
  • Safety glasses & steel/composite toe shoes are required for entirety of shift.
  • Must successfully pass initial and random drug screenings.
  • May require step stools or ladders.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is $55,900-74,100 per year. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
