Job Description

Buyer – Engineer-to-Order Manufacturing Environment
Koch Finishing Systems | 10 S 11th Ave, Evansville, IN 47712
Koch Finishing Systems is hiring a detail-oriented Buyer to manage purchasing, procurement, and supplier relationships within our engineer-to-order manufacturing environment. This role requires strong technical aptitude to interpret project specifications and drawings, and sharp attention to detail to ensure materials and equipment reach the right destination — job site, fabrication shop, or subcontractor — on time and without disrupting project progress. If you have a strong grasp of supply chain management, sourcing, and negotiation, and enjoy building relationships with vendors while keeping projects on schedule, we want to hear from you.
What You Get
• Minimum pay $60,000/yr
• Paid holidays, vacation, PTO & EPTO
• Medical, dental & vision insurance
• Retirement plans
• Tuition & fitness reimbursement
Key Responsibilities
• Review purchase requisitions, specifications, and engineering drawings to confirm ordered items match project requirements before placing orders.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and service contractors, driving efficiencies across our supply chain.
• Manage purchasing systems to request quotes, negotiate pricing, and set delivery terms; create purchase orders to ensure timely procurement and delivery.
• Coordinate delivery logistics across job sites, our fabrication shop, and subcontractor locations — confirming correct destination, quantity, and timing to keep production and installation on schedule.
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance against specifications and delivery requirements; document performance in our ERP system.
• Collaborate with engineering and estimating to identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers, including credit applications and tax exemption documentation.
• Work with the Inventory Coordinator to utilize surplus items and support an annual audit of obsolete inventory.
• Partner with shipping and receiving, engineering, and accounting to resolve pricing and fulfillment discrepancies and process change orders.
• Participate on cross-functional teams to share and implement purchasing and supply chain best practices.
Required Qualifications
• Associate's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field — or equivalent purchasing/procurement experience.
• 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, including sourcing of major equipment.
• Comfortable reading technical specifications, drawings, or bills of material to verify order accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP/purchasing systems a plus.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines with consistent attention to detail.
Additional Details
• Occasional travel to other Koch locations may be required (details provided during interview).
