Job Description

This is a key role to work with Suppliers to schedule and expedite material for delivery at the right time, quantity and price to achieve the production schedule and the customer requirements. Actioning daily exception messages, maintaining system parameters and ensuring deliveries are received on time in full whilst maintaining the optimum levels of inventory and respecting agreements with suppliers in terms of Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) and lead-times.



Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager in this role you will manage inventory levels and escalate any concerns with potential overstocks, build relationships with suppliers ensuring the deliveries are received on time in full, participating on Supplier on Time Delivery activities and putting in place action plan in case of poor performers, pro-actively expedite against forward customer orderbook and take ownership for reactive expediting to customer and production shortages.

In this role you will ensure status of all purchase orders with suppliers is up to date and closed in a timely manner, maintaining accurate records of purchase orders and compiling regular reports on current purchase order statuses, managing delivery quantity invoice queries and problem resolution. Supporting the Supply Chain Engineer (Supplier) with supplier development activities, maintaining and managing master data within the ERP system, ensuring all data is in line with the agreements made by the centre-led sourcing team.

This role would suit a determined problem-solver, who can be responsible for driving and promoting material savings and managing / reducing extra costs (both on materials and freight), by negotiating competitive purchase orders with vendors, identifying volume discounts, and minimizing extra costs such as rush-shipping, storage fees for excess stock, and supply-chain delays. Cross-Functional collaboration: work alongside R&D, Application or operations teams to align purchasing decisions with broader business goals.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in the use of ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics
  • Ability to read technical drawing
  • Experience with and sound knowledge of inventory management and material control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Good level of IT understanding, including use of common tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point.
  • Fluent English

The Successful Candidate:

  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills
  • Negotiation & Communication: Ability to communicate clearly, resolve discrepancies, and strike fair agreements without damaging supplier relationships.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in reviewing commodity indices, financial data, and inventory reports to inform buying choices.
  • Good attention to detail, with a methodical and logical analytical approach.
