The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join our Energy & Utilities business based in Sydney.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager you will play a critical role supporting a portfolio of projects and contracts by ensuring materials, equipment and services are sourced at the right cost, quality and time. Working closely with project delivery teams, suppliers and key stakeholders, you will help deliver successful project outcomes while maintaining compliance with Downer's procurement frameworks and governance requirements.

This role is ideal for a procurement professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment and building strong supplier and stakeholder relationships. You will join a collaborative team that is focused on driving value, managing risk and supporting the successful delivery of essential infrastructure projects across the region.

What You'll Do

• Execute sourcing, purchasing and contracting activities in line with project procurement plans and business requirements.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance, compliance and delivery outcomes.
• Support project teams with procurement planning, commercial advice and market insights.
• Identify and manage procurement-related risks, opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, systems and processes, including P2P requirements and delegated authorities.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in procurement, purchasing, contract management or supply chain roles within construction, utilities, energy, infrastructure or similar industries.
• Strong understanding of source-to-contract and procure-to-pay processes.
• Experience using ERP or procurement systems, ideally Oracle or similar platforms.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills, combined with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
