Job Description

Join Ashtead Technology as a Buyer and support growing our projects and operations, ensuring the right materials and services are delivered at the right time, cost, and quality. While working with suppliers and stakeholders across the business, you'll play a key role in driving procurement efficiency, building strong supplier relationships, and delivering value across the supply chain.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Raising and managing purchase orders, obtaining quotations, evaluating supplier proposals, and ensuring procurement activities are completed in line with company procedures and authority limits.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, negotiating pricing and terms, monitoring supplier performance, and supporting cost-saving and supplier rationalisation initiatives.
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of materials, components, and services by expediting orders, resolving delivery issues, and providing updates on lead times and material readiness.
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams to understand procurement requirements, resolve invoice or delivery discrepancies, and support project delivery.
  • Maintaining accurate procurement records within the ERP system, ensuring supplier documentation, traceability, quality requirements, and compliance standards are met.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, including supplier agreements, call-off arrangements, process improvements, and opportunities for standardisation and supply chain optimisation.

What experience you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in a purchasing or supply chain role, preferably in a project driven, technical environment.
  • Experience working across multiple sites, functions or business units.
  • Commercially aware and proactive in delivering value.
  • CIPS Level 4 qualification or actively working towards is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of mechanical or electrical components is beneficial.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and collaboration skills, effective in cross-functional environments.
  • IT literacy including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
