Job Description

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, selecting, and procuring beauty products that align with our brand vision, customer preferences, and market trends. This role involves analyzing sales data, negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a competitive and profitable product assortment. The ideal candidate is passionate about the beauty industry, has a keen eye for trends, and possesses strong negotiation and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Sourcing and Selection: Identify and source high-quality beauty products (cosmetics, skincare, haircare, etc.) that align with brand standards, customer demand, and current market trends.
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay ahead of beauty industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings. Use insights to inform product selection and assortment strategy.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, manage stock turnover, and collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing overstock or stockouts.
  • Sales and Performance Analysis: Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and product performance to make data-driven decisions on product assortment, pricing, and promotions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, merchandising, and e-commerce teams to develop product launches, promotional campaigns, and in-store or online displays.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for purchasing, ensuring alignment with financial goals and profitability targets.
  • Compliance and Quality Control: Ensure all sourced products meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards, including cruelty-free and sustainability requirements where applicable.
  • Trend Forecasting: Stay informed about emerging beauty trends, new product innovations, and shifts in consumer behavior to keep the product assortment fresh and competitive.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a buyer, preferably in the beauty, retail, or consumer goods industry.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the beauty industry, including cosmetics, skincare, haircare, and wellness products. Familiarity with clean beauty, cruelty-free, and sustainable product trends is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing sales data, market trends, and financial metrics to drive decision-making.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers and vendors.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Tech Proficiency: Experience with inventory management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Knowledge of data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau) is a plus.
  • Passion for Beauty: A genuine passion for the beauty industry and a keen eye for emerging trends and products.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with private label or exclusive beauty brands.
  • Knowledge of global sourcing and supply chain logistics.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and online merchandising strategies.
  • Understanding of sustainability and ethical sourcing practices in the beauty industry.
