Job Description

Role of Buy-Back Attendant

Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 8am - 4:30pm

The Buy-Back Attendant 1 is the first point of contact to greet and purchase from the public their recyclable materials. This is an entry-level position for a person with the required knowledge and abilities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors in a positive and courteous manner.
  • Receive and weigh recyclable materials, such as glass, aluminum and paper.
  • Calculate payment for materials at established prices and provide receipt.
  • Maintain proper records of materials and amounts purchased.
  • Instruct visitors regarding proper handling and bundling of recyclable materials.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and Recology’s policies.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and surrounding area.
  • Report problems immediately to supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills required.
  • Some forklift experience, forklift certification is preferred.
  • Computer literate.
