Position: Busser

Department: Food and Beverage

Sets and clears tables, fills water glasses, and restocks plates; serves as a runner, when needed, and serves food to guests.

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

• Checks tables at start of shift to ensure that servers are prepared to meet guest needs; cleans and/or sets tables and fills condiments where needed.
• Checks stock of clean dishes and eating utensils to ensure servers are prepared to meet guest needs; arranges for clean dishes and eating utensils, if there is insufficient stock, or assists with dishwashing.
• Replenishes beverages and assists food servers in carrying orders from kitchen to table, as needed.
• Maintains clear communication with servers and works in tandem to ensure smooth, efficient guest service.
• Maintains cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift practicing clean-as-you-go procedures: Clears soiled dishes, eating utensils, and glassware as diners eat and upon departure; cleans floors, if necessary; and sanitizes tabletops and seats upon departure and re-sets tables according to established standards.
• Follows established safety and security policies and procedures including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions immediately to a supervisor.
• Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
• Displays initiative and ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell to all guests using a guest’s name, when possible, and making good eye contact.
• Fosters a team environment by working collaboratively with co-workers.
• Provides courteous service and is cordial to all guests and team members.
• Resolves complaints in a pleasant and professional manner.
• Serves as an apprentice to food servers.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential functions of the position:

• Must be able to lift, carry, and transport materials and/or equipment frequently up to forty (40) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to reach high areas, stoop, pull, push, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and bend for duties.
• Must be able to work at and travel to all CDS properties.
• Must be able to follow both verbal and written directions.
• Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests and team members positively and professionally.
• Must be able to work in environments with high noise levels, flashing lights, smoking areas, and large crowds.
• Must be able to work in a high-pressure/fast-paced environment

• Good organizational, planning, communication, and time management skills.
• Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining excellent working relationships.
• Ability to multitask and make sound decisions.
• Ability to follow directions effectively and maintain confidentially.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to carry and balance trays of food and beverages.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must either possess or obtain a valid Food Handler’s and Alcohol Awareness cards within three (3) months of employment.
• Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed.
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
• Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
• Must be able to obtain, and retain a valid gaming license/background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior busser experience.
• ServSafe certification.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
