Job Description

Position:

Business Unit ManagerTo lead and manage the Business Unit by driving its strategic growth, commercial performance, operational excellence, and service delivery. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining a competitive Business Unit offering, fostering strong client, vendor, and stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the effective design, promotion, and delivery of training solutions. The Business Unit Manager is accountable for optimising resources, systems, and processes, achieving financial and operational targets, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to support sustainable business growth and exceptional customer experiences.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 – 8 years' experience within the IT training, technology learning, professional services, or related industry, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in business development, commercial management, and working within a sales-driven environment.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in vendor, partner, and stakeholder relationship management.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4 (essential).
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (NQF Level 7) in Business Management, Commerce, Information Technology, Project Management, Education, or a related field (essential).
  • Relevant vendor certifications and/or project management certifications will be advantageous.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Business Unit Strategy, Growth and Portfolio Management

· Develop and execute the Business Unit strategy to ensure sustainable growth, market competitiveness, and alignment with organisational and vendor objectives.

· Continuously evaluate and enhance the Business Unit offering by identifying new technologies, products, training solutions, and market opportunities.

· Drive innovation and implement initiatives that strengthen the organisation's market position and expand revenue streams.

Financial and Commercial Management

· Assume overall accountability for the Business Unit's financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.

· Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions to achieve financial and operational targets.

· Optimise resource utilisation and ensure cost-effective management of Business Unit operations.

Vendor, Partner and Stakeholder Management

· Establish, develop, and maintain strategic relationships with vendors, channel partners, clients, and key stakeholders.

· Ensure alignment with vendor business plans, contractual obligations, and performance requirements.

· Represent the organisation in industry forums, partner engagements, and strategic business initiatives.

Business Development and Sales Enablement

· Drive business development initiatives by identifying opportunities to grow market share and expand customer adoption of Business Unit solutions.

· Provide strategic sales support through solution design, client engagement, and consultative expertise.

· Equip Sales teams with the knowledge, tools, and resources required to effectively position and sell Business Unit offerings.

Training Solutions and Service Delivery Management

· Oversee the design, implementation, and delivery of high-quality training solutions and programmes that meet customer, vendor, and business requirements.

· Ensure all training activities are delivered efficiently, professionally, and in accordance with quality standards.

· Drive continuous improvement in the learner experience and overall service delivery.

Examination and Learning Systems Management

· Oversee examination operations and learning management systems to ensure compliance with vendor, regulatory, and organisational requirements.

· Ensure examination processes, candidate support, and system integrations are effectively managed and continuously improved.

People Leadership and Capability Development

· Lead, coach, and develop Business Unit employees to build a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable team.

· Manage employee performance, succession planning, and capability development to support business objectives.

· Foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development.

Brand Positioning and Industry Representation

· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the visibility and positioning of the Business Unit within the market.

· Support marketing initiatives, industry events, and strategic partnerships that strengthen brand awareness and business growth.

· Act as an ambassador for the organisation and Business Unit offerings.

Governance, Reporting and Continuous Improvement

· Monitor and report on Business Unit performance against strategic, financial, and operational objectives.

· Ensure compliance with organisational policies, vendor requirements, and governance standards.

· Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and best practices to enhance overall Business Unit performance.
