Job Description

Our goal is to bring fusion electricity to the grid by developing the power stations of tomorrow and the skilled workforce to deliver them.

Manage the provision of technical support to the Business Systems team, ensuring the effective delivery and development of the UKAEA Group ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. This covers all Procurement, Financial and HR processes for UKAEA and UKIFS. The Business Systems Team maintains the existing ERP system, Unit4 ERP CR (Continuous Release) ensuring we keep up to date with software updates/upgrades in compliance with our contract and best practices. The Team supports circa 2500 users with UKAEA key business processes.

Core responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice and support to senior management, the team, and key stakeholders (Finance, People, Procurement).
  • Act as Contract Project Manager for UNIT4 ERP and related services.
  • Lead ERP technical development, including APIs, integrations, and data exchanges.
  • Drive ERP enhancements, upgrades, and supplier transitions.
  • Deputise for the Business Systems Senior Manager; support team management and training.
  • Serve as U4BW technical lead, defining solutions and approving changes.
  • Advise senior leadership on ERP/IT strategy and system design.
  • Support governance via CAB, resolving issues and recommending solutions.
  • Manage system integrations, including Microsoft 365 SSO.
  • Oversee infrastructure, cloud services, and access controls.
  • Ensure robust environments, data integrity, testing, compliance, and risk management.
  • Manage suppliers, team performance, and business systems projects, including budgets and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in ICT, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Business.
  • Extensive hands-on experience managing ERP or complex business systems in a technical/SME role.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and ERP modules (Procurement, Projects, People, Finance).
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to build internal and external relationships.
  • Proven contract/project management experience, including Government procurement.
  • Solid understanding of large databases and cloud hosting.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and programming logic.
  • Proficient in ERP reporting tools (e.g. Browsers/Information Browsers) and advanced Excel skills.
