Note – this position can be a remote opportunity only for those residing in the following states that Children’s is established in: Nebraska (preferred), Iowa, Idaho, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, or Tennessee.

A Brief Overview

Plan, analyze, design, test, implement and maintain hospital and/or outpatient business IT applications. Researches and corrects system and user problems. Works with various primary care clinics, specialty departments, ancillary departments, inpatient units and billing/finance to support practice and implement changes as needed to the existing systems.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze, design, configure, test and maintain Children’s Hospital & Medical Center’s business applications through collaboration with members of care teams, operational leaders, technical team members and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Research, analyze, troubleshoot and correct system components in a timely manner. Translate workflow requirements into efficient and effective application solutions.
  • Perform quality assurance and integrated testing of current and newly released vendor functionality to ensure system reliability and maintain EMR integrity.
  • Participate and coordinate projects across applications as a subject matter expert in defining requirements for changing new & existing systems in alignment with department and organization priorities. Works with the team to define process flows & make recommendations for the most efficient utilization of applications.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers through effective and consistent communication.
  • Actively and accurately maintain issue lists; build documentation and coordination of team tasks as outlined by department policies.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
  • Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section.
  • Assists with end-user training and development as needed.
  • Participates in on-call and monthly maintenance activities


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, a medical profession, or related field is required; experience may be substituted for education. Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in Information Technology or healthcare field Required and
  • Previous Epic application experience and certification Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Current technical knowledge of Information Technology, focusing on application development and support.
  • Current knowledge of applying technology focused in the area of Healthcare.
  • Skill in use of MS Office applications.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills necessary for problem solving.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills for problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must obtain job related certification within 9 months of hire and maintain the certification(s) for duration of employment in IT. Required
  • Work after hours and on weekends as needed is an expectation of the job. Required
