Job Description

Position Summary

Wind River Environmental is seeking a curious, organized, and technology-minded Business Systems Analyst to help turn business needs and ideas into technology solutions. This role sits within the IT department and works closely with business teams across the company. You will work directly with employees across the company to understand how they work, identify opportunities for improvement, gather and document requirements, and partner with our development team to turn those requirements into solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who enjoys solving problems, working with people, learning how businesses operate, and using technology - including emerging AI tools - to improve the way work gets done.

Location: Hybrid/Remote. While this position is primarily remote, candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance of our Marlborough, MA office to attend occasional in-person team meetings and collaborative sessions as needed.

Pay Range: $82,000 - $100,000

Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Wind River Environmental is unable to provide employment-based visa sponsorship for this position, now or in the future.

What You'll Do

  • Meet with employees and business leaders to understand problems, opportunities, and desired outcomes.
  • Ask questions and dig into workflows to understand what users really need - not simply what they initially request.
  • Gather, organize, and document business and system requirements.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria for developers.
  • Analyze user feedback, system activity, and relevant business interactions to identify technology-related opportunities for process and system improvement.
  • Facilitate meetings and working sessions between business users and technology teams, partnering with business owners and departmental analysts to align on needs and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate follow-up activities and keep approved technology projects and enhancements moving forward in alignment with business and IT priorities.
  • Assist with user acceptance testing and verify that solutions meet the original business requirements.
  • Help coordinate communications, training, documentation, and rollout of new technology and system enhancements.
  • Work closely with developers throughout the development lifecycle to answer questions and clarify requirements.
  • Learn Wind River's business processes and technology platforms and become a trusted resource connecting the business with technology.
  • Explore how AI and other emerging technologies can support business-led process improvements and employee productivity.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with an interest in business processes and technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Natural curiosity and a willingness to ask questions.
  • Ability to communicate comfortably with both technical and non-technical employees.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take an unclear problem and bring structure and clarity to it.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and business processes.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through.

You'll Be Successful in This Role If You...

You hear someone say, "The system doesn't work the way we need it to," and your instinct is to start asking questions. You want to understand what they are trying to accomplish, how they do it today, where the process breaks down, and what a better experience would look like.

Then you can take everything you've learned and turn it into something clear enough that a development team can build - and stay involved until the solution is successfully in the hands of the people who need it.

Why This Role Matters

Technology development is changing rapidly. Modern development tools and AI allow technology teams to design and build solutions faster than ever before. That makes understanding the business, defining the right problem, communicating requirements, and helping employees successfully adopt new solutions increasingly important.

The Business Systems Analyst helps bridge that gap - making sure we aren't simply building technology faster, but building the right things and successfully putting them to work.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $82,000 - $100,000 per year, with eligibility for a 10% bonus. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge and skills. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
