Job Description

The IT Business Systems Analyst (BSA) serves as the primary link between the business functions and the IT Department for the company and 3rd party business system ecosystem. This role designs, develops, customizes, and configures business systems; partners with functional stakeholders to define and document requirements; leads data migrations and system integrations; and owns application support and maintenance.

Essential Job Functions

System Design and Development

  • Design, develop, configure, and maintain ERP modules and related applications, reports, and interfaces to meet business requirements and follow standards to ensure supportability and upgrade compatibility.
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards using platform reporting tools (e.g., OTBI, BI Publisher, or equivalent).

Business & 3rd Party Partnership

  • Work closely with business stakeholders across various functions to gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements.
  • Translate business needs into system design specifications, process flows, and conceptual data models.
  • Evaluate feasibility, complexity, resource needs, and cost/time trade-offs for proposed system changes and enhancements.
  • Own the relationship with third-party providers responsible for related application services and ensure deliverables are met.

System Integration and Data Migration

  • Plan and execute data migration activities between legacy systems, ERP modules, and third-party platforms, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Design, build, and maintain system integrations using best practices.
  • Manage application changes through the system landscape utilizing proper change management processes and monitor to ensure quality and stability.

Support, Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance

  • Own support tickets end-to-end: triage, investigate, troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate status to end users and stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve system, integration, and performance issues across supported applications.
  • Perform unit and system testing, code reviews, and user acceptance testing to ensure quality of delivered solutions.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain technical design documents, system architecture diagrams, process documentation and end-user documentation, job aids, and training materials.
  • Stay current on platform updates, patches, and new features; recommend process and system improvements.
  • Identify process improvement and automation opportunities and build the business case for pursuing them.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2–5+ years of experience in ERP business systems analysis, technical design, development, and support.
  • Experience with ERP Procure-to-Pay or Order-to-Cash related modules (e.g., AP, AR, GL, Order Management, Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing).
  • Demonstrated experience with data migration and system/application integrations.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate business processes into system requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging both business and technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and third-party vendors in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred:

  • Development experience with SQL, PL/SQL, or equivalent languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript), for application customization and reporting.
  • Relevant ERP platform certifications (e.g., Oracle Cloud ERP, OCI Developer Professional, or equivalent).
  • 1+ full lifecycle ERP implementation.
  • Experience with reporting/analytics tools such as OTBI, BI Publisher, or FAW/FDI.
  • Working knowledge of EDI transaction sets (850, 810, 856, or similar) and experience coordinating with EDI/VAN providers.
