The Business Systems Analyst supports operational effectiveness by evaluating business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and ensuring alignment between business needs and system capabilities. This role is ideal for a systems thinker who is inquisitive, analytical, and highly collaborative. While not a traditional technical position, the analyst must be comfortable working within ERP systems, interpreting operational data, and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive sustainable continuous improvement. Preferred candidates bring light programming or scripting experience to enhance problem-solving, support data validation, and streamline workflow analysis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Process Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Assess, map, and document current-state business processes across departments.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and gaps; recommend practical, measurable solutions.
  • Facilitate root-cause analysis and support preventative corrective actions.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement through KPI-based validation and refinement.
  • Learn and understand the organization’s ERP platform (e.g., Epicor) and system workflows.
  • Evaluate how business activities interact with system capabilities and recommend system-aligned process improvements.
  • Collaborate with system administrators to ensure operational processes and system configurations remain optimized.
  • Preferred: Use light programming/scripting skills (e.g., SQL basics, VBA, Python) to support data review, workflow analysis, or simple automation tasks.
  • Analyze operational data, dashboards, and key performance indicators to identify areas requiring attention (e.g., aged WIP, inventory discrepancies).
  • Define, track, and communicate KPIs tied to process health and organizational performance.
  • Support implementation of changes using both lagging and leading indicators to drive efficiency.
  • Lead or support cross-functional working sessions to gather requirements, uncover issues, and build consensus on solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between business units and technical/system teams to ensure smooth communication and process alignment.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and updates to stakeholders in clear, concise formats.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong understanding of business process mapping, workflow optimization, and operational analysis.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and transactional flows (Epicor experience is a plus).
  • Ability to interpret operational metrics, dashboards, and KPIs.
  • Competent in root-cause analysis, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills; comfortable working across departments.
  • Preferred: Basic programming or scripting capabilities (SQL, Python, VBA, or similar) to support analytical tasks—not required but beneficial.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Process Analyst, Continuous Improvement Specialist, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess processes and recommend effective improvements.
  • Experience with ERP systems and operational dashboards.
  • Exposure to KPI development and performance monitoring.
  • Nice to Have:
    • Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certifications.
    • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or supply-chain environments.
    • Familiarity with aged WIP analysis, job movement tracking, or system performance metrics

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office or hybrid work environment depending on organizational structure.
  • Regular interaction with cross-functional teams across operations, finance, supply chain, engineering, and system administration.
  • Extended periods working on a computer, analyzing data, documenting processes, and creating improvement recommendations.
  • Occasional on-site visits to operational areas, production floors, or department workspaces to observe workflows firsthand.
  • May require facilitating meetings, training sessions, or workshops.
