Job Description

Business Support Officer - Transitions | 9721 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £25,583 to £25,989 per annum | Grade D | County Hall

2026 is an exciting time to join Norfolk County Council Children's Services following a recent highly successful Ofsted inspection and the continuing progress we are making on our Local First Inclusion strategy. We want children, young people, and families in Norfolk to receive support at the earliest opportunity so that they can flourish. By acting together, as a connected system, we can ensure vulnerable children and young people and their families receive the right support, at the right time.

As part of our Local First Inclusion programme Norfolk County Council has developed a Norfolk Alternative Provision Strategy to promote the inclusion of pupils who are at risk of exclusion from mainstream secondary schools.

The Schools’ Alternative Provision Placement Team is responsible for supporting placements within the Norfolk Alternative Provision Strategy including, Tier 1 and Tier 2 including transition and reintegration planning when mainstream is identified as appropriate for pupils under the Alternative Education Service.

The team may also support the wider aims of the Local First Inclusion programme which align to the core aims of the role as the programme develops.

About the role:
We are seeking a person to support the administration aspect of the team’s work. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and an ability to work with all stakeholders including parents, Headteachers and other professionals. This is a busy role so requires someone who is organised and able to prioritise and manage their own workload.

Before you apply, we recommend reading the full and Person Specification to help you demonstrate you meet the criteria.
