Job Description

Business Support Officer | Full time, temporary until 31 March 2027 | 37 hours | Lancashire House, Enterprise Way, Accrington, BB5 0FL

Join a friendly, supportive team where your organisation, communication skills and commitment to excellent service will make a real difference.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Business Support Officer to provide high-quality administrative support to the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) teams within the Education and Children’s Directorate.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative experience, or for an individual looking to build on existing skills in a busy, purposeful and supportive environment. You will play an important role in helping operational staff and managers deliver effective services for children, families and partner agencies across Lancashire.

About the role

As a Business Support Officer, you will provide efficient, accurate and professional support to operational teams and managers. Your work will help ensure that information is managed effectively, deadlines are met, and colleagues receive the support they need to deliver high-quality services.

You will be part of an established team that values collaboration, attention to detail and a positive, solution-focused approach. No two days will be the same, and you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge, confidence and skills while contributing to important work across the Education & Children's Services.

What we’re looking for

  • A genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service and getting things right first time.
  • Experience of working in an administrative setting, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office packages and databases, or the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with managers, social workers, families, members of the public and colleagues.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, including knowing when to ask for support and being keen to continue developing your skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team while taking ownership of your own tasks and responsibilities.

Why join us?

You will be joining a welcoming and supportive team where your contribution will be valued. You will receive guidance from your line manager and colleagues, access to training and development opportunities, and the chance to be part of wider staff networks and groups.

Lancashire County Council also offers a range of benefits, including:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Great holiday entitlement, starting at 26 days per year plus bank holidays.
  • Opportunities for flexible working.
  • Health and wellbeing support.
  • Family-friendly employment policies.
  • Financial and travel benefits.
  • Access to training, learning and development.
