  • Temporary full-time opportunity until December 2026
  • Band 4 salary, commencing at $39.90 per hour plus 12% superannuation (dependent on skills and experience)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic Business Support Officer to provide high-quality administrative, financial, and customer service support across the department. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accuracy, and enjoys supporting a team that delivers impactful community programs.

You will play a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, supporting both internal staff and external customers, and contributing to the ongoing improvement of departmental processes.

Responsibilities

In this rewarding role, you will:

  • Provide a high level of customer service in all interactions with clients, community members, and internal stakeholders, maintaining integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Work closely with the Team Leader to perform accurate and efficient data entry, reporting, and processing for accounts receivable, debt collection follow-up, payroll requirements, and general record keeping.
  • Manage departmental stationery and equipment supplies, including monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and coordinating deliveries.
  • Raise purchase orders and process accounts payable invoices, ensuring compliance with organisational financial procedures.
  • Manage inward and outward correspondence, ensuring timely distribution and accurate documentation.
  • Participate in the department’s telephone queue, providing friendly, timely, and efficient phone support to internal staff and/or external customers, depending on operational requirements.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience in administrative or business support roles, ideally within a community, local government, or service delivery environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in data entry, financial processes, and record management.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Confidence using a range of computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office and database or financial management systems.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to identify issues and contribute to process improvements.
