Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Carmarthenshire to assist with the appointment of a Business Support Administrator, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £13.26 - £17.15 per hour

Summary:

The Business Support Administrator role involves administering credit card processes, providing guidance to internal stakeholders, supporting procurement activities, maintaining financial records, and delivering excellent customer service while ensuring value for money and minimising financial risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the Authority's Corporate Credit Card programme.
  • Process credit card requests, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, procurement procedures, VAT legislation, and authorised approval processes.
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff, schools, day centres, and other departments on corporate credit card usage and purchasing best practices.
  • Ensure credit card transactions are accurately coded, processed, and allocated to the correct financial codes.
  • Obtain and validate VAT invoices to enable VAT recovery where applicable.
  • Challenge expenditure requests where appropriate and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value for money.

Qualification:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.

Essentials:

  • Experience working within a finance or accounting environment.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and financial processes.
  • Understanding of financial regulations, procurement procedures, and VAT processes.
  • Good understanding of GDPR and Data Protection legislation.
