Salary (Actual Salary): £32,916 - £51,048

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of Business Studies with the drive, imagination and energy to deliver excellence in the IT & Business department to join our dedicated team at Outwood Academy Adwick You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘Students First’. You will ensure effective teaching and learning is in place to ensure outstanding outcomes for students. About The Department

Our ICT & Business Department is dynamic and forward-thinking, comprising a Head of Department and three experienced teachers, delivering Enterprise, IT, and Computer Science. At Key Stage 4, students follow the OCR Computer Science specification, and at Key Stage 5 the department is focussed on delivering the very best T-Levels. The department is integral to our students' development, nurturing their technological skills and preparing them for future career pathways. In Computing and IT the department is also supported by a Trust Director who plays a pivotal role in the reduction of workload through marking and feedback throughout the trust.

The Role

As a Teacher of Business, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5, inspiring students to develop a love for technology and problem-solving.
  • Contribute to a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department and Senior Leadership Team, to drive achievement and raise standards in the department.
  • Support initiatives to increase the uptake of Business at KS4 and KS5.

This role is ideal for someone with strong subject knowledge, a passion for Business, and the desire to make a real impact on students’ lives.

The Teacher is expected to implement and use a wide range of teaching and learning strategies within the classroom, applying techniques like Assessment for Learning (AfL) to continually improve student performance. A core duty involves effectively using student level data to identify areas for development and raise standards.

This professional must be aware of strategies available for improving the learning and achievement of all students, alongside possessing a good understanding of curriculum developments within their specific subject area. The role requires maintaining high expectations for all students and effectively communicating with students and their parents, both orally and in writing. The teacher is expected to work collaboratively as part of a team, sharing good practice across the department, and demonstrating creativity in problem solving and a willingness to adopt new approaches.

Essential qualifications include a degree in an appropriate discipline related to the relevant subject and a teaching qualification coupled with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Required experience includes recent and relevant teaching experience (either in employment or training) and experience of assessment at Key Stage 3 and 4.

The successful candidate will be confident in using standard computer packages (word processing, email, and spreadsheets) and understand how these tools can enhance student learning. The role demands high levels of professionalism, including the ability to relate to students in a pleasant and sympathetic manner, and a capacity to recognise potential child safeguarding issues.
