Department Overview

The organization you will be joining is a newly established unit reporting directly to the COO of Rakuten Mobile. Rakuten Mobile is evolving daily to deliver attractive services to a broader customer base. To drive further growth, we are focused on maximizing profitability and building a robust governance framework through strategic planning, strengthening organizational competitiveness, formulating improvement policies, monitoring, and institutionalizing operational processes. Our responsibilities are wide-ranging—from supporting executive decision-making to hands-on problem solving and project execution. This is a challenging position, perfect for someone who wishes to demonstrate leadership and contribute directly to the company's transformation.

Position Details

You will be responsible for driving Rakuten Mobile’s growth through strategic planning, strengthening organizational and competitive capabilities, improving service quality and productivity, and leading cross-group projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulating annual business plans.
  • Planning, designing, and implementing operational governance.
  • Planning and managing key executive meetings, including Management Committee meetings.
  • Identifying and analyzing critical company issues and agenda items, and developing actionable solutions.
  • Leading high-priority, company-wide special projects (including strategic planning, decision-making support, and execution).

Mandatory Qualifications

*Industry experience is not required.

  • 3+ years of project management experience on the business side at a consulting firm, OR 5+ years of experience in corporate strategy, business planning, or business development at a corporate entity.
  • Business-level proficiency in English (TOEIC score not required).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Corporate Strategy (Keiei-kikaku) at a corporate entity.
  • Experience in developing/launching business models, management models, or new services.
  • Experience in formulating and executing plans to strengthen organizational competitiveness, improve productivity, or drive operational excellence.
  • Experience in planning and managing high-level meetings (e.g., Board of - Directors, Management Committee, Executive Off-sites).
  • Experience in planning and executing company-wide organizational transformation.
  • Experience leading cross-national/multicultural teams in project execution.
  • Management consulting experience.
  • Experience in corporate development (e.g., partnerships, M&A).
  • Experience in the internet services industry.
