The Opportunity 

We are looking for a Business & Strategy Development Lead. The primary purpose of this role is to spearhead the development and execution of new strategic initiatives, as well as run our existing specialty insurance portfolio. This position is critical for driving the growth and financial performance of our bancassurance portfolio by crafting and sustaining a pipeline of scalable opportunities that align to our diversification strategy. Given the significant growth potential within our RBC partnership, the successful candidate will play a meaningful role in the successful expansion of new P&C products. This role demands a high level of expertise in relationship and portfolio management, financial analysis, strategic planning, and building and maintaining new relationships.

What you’ll do:

Performance Management

  • Ongoing Distribution Performance Management of our existing embedded card coverage Portfolio - Monthly financials results relative to key Metrics Loss ratio, claims indemnity, and COR.

  • Support pricing on annual performance review and managing partners through rate indications.

  • Negotiate opportunities for growth while outlining any risks to the portfolio and suggesting potential mitigants to de-risk.

  • Accountable for continued growth on any new product launches post-launch, establishing appropriate important metrics for performance tracking against benefits case.

Business Development

  • Responsible for cradle to grave ownership of business development opportunities within our current bancassurance partnerships from identifying new business potential for scale to driving implementation. Including identifying key collaborator relationships to foster (internally and externally), conducting market research, and preparing top and bottom-line benefits.

  • Work directly with our existing partner on new P&C insurance solutions crafted for existing banking products.

  • Collaborate on key critical metrics to measure progress of central initiative implementation.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Generate and develop financial/strategic portfolio analysis & performance management insight for Senior Leadership Teams.

  • Support the success of implementing our partnership team 5-year strategy from developing initiatives, outlining benefits, milestone planning, and partner management to ensure the successful growth of our business aligned to financial plan.

  • Collaborate with cross functional subject areas ensuring collaborator engagement is high, while resolving any challenges to ensure the successful outcome of the plan.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a key liaison for our partners, coordinating and arranging internal and external resources as necessary while maintaining positive relationships with current partners.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with a range of internal teams including personal insurance underwriting, product, pricing, finance and claims.

  • Build and develop new external relationships with a common goal to continually develop new mutually beneficial revenue opportunities.

Business Planning and Execution

  • Collaborate with external collaborators to develop business plans that align with Aviva’s business objectives. This would include initiating and delivering on a sales action plan to support the strategic objections and to exceed stated goals.

  • Collaborate with internal finance business partners with forecasts for various projects and initiatives that would include forecasted P&Ls and projected revenue growth.

  • Monitoring project progress against forecasted financials and identifying key growth opportunities, as well as some pressure points early in the implementation stage.

  • Ability to outline business argument and benefits for new product complete plans, with support of VP.

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated ability (3-5 years) in business development and/or strategy development.

  • Ability to navigate team members and adept at managing expectations and holding parties accountable.

  • Managing Partnership outcomes and owning third party relationships to build and initiate new opportunities to scale.

  • Prior experience in small commercial, credit card insurance product offerings, or launching new P&C products or propositions.

  • Portfolio management and accountability – managing third party relationships bringing to bear critical metrics to drive prioritization of efforts to improve and maintain performance and growth.

  • Experience with warranty, lender, and/or travel insurance products is an asset.

  • Creative thinker – understands and outlines risks with an ability to manage associated controls to deliver strategic goals.

What you’ll get :

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $110,000 to $135,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
