About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Vice President (AVP) to join our Monitoring and Assurance team within Bank of Singapore Hong Kong. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing complaint handling processes and conducting surveillance reviews on investment transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This role requires strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of private banking operations, solid knowledge of suitability regime under HKMA/SFC, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.


What you do

  • Manage and oversee the complaint handling process related to private banking investment services, ensuring timely and effective resolution in line with regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate closely with Compliance, Risk Management, Legal, and Business Units to address findings and implement corrective actions.

  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation on findings, investigations, and complaint outcomes for senior management and regulatory submissions.

  • Conduct comprehensive surveillance reviews and monitoring of investment transactions to identify potential risks, irregularities, or breaches of regulatory and internal policies.

  • Analyse transaction data and client activities to detect suspicious or non-compliant behaviour, escalating issues as appropriate.

  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments, industry trends, and best practices related to investment surveillance and complaint handling.

  • Support internal audits and regulatory examinations by providing necessary data, analysis, and explanations related to monitoring activities.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance monitoring frameworks, tools, and processes within the division.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Law, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in private banking, investment monitoring, compliance, or risk management roles, experience with HKMA and SFC is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of private banking products, investment transactions, and regulatory environment in Hong Kong (e.g., regulations and expectations of HKMA/SFC).

  • Proven experience in complaint handling and conducting transaction surveillance, investigations.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising effectively with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Proficiency in navigating banking systems and MS Office applications.
