What you’ll do

We are hiring a motivated Business Intelligence expert to join the global Business Intelligence (BIC) team to support our Global Aerospace and Defense, Aviation Industry Practice. The BIC Team provides insight and analysis through research, market and competitor intelligence, pitch support, prospect identification and account management for our industries, communities, and geographies. Our mission is to partner with our consultants in delivering insights and analysis to support in winning new business and delivering memorable results. The Business Intelligence Center A&D role works closely with our senior practice leaders of the Global A&D Aviation Practice and BIC Leadership Team. Industry practice covers commercial aerospace and defense OEMs, their customers and supply chain, airlines and their ecosystem, and PE investors in the A&D Aviation sector.

We are seeking candidates who have built insight and experience in the A&D, Aviation sector, either from a line position or working in academia, research, or professional services. We will consider candidates with adjacent work experience but a strong demonstrated interest in the sector. The Business Intelligence Senior Specialist is a full-time role located in Washington, D.C., Southfield, MI, Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, or New York, NY, and reports to the Business Intelligence Center Leadership in close partnership with Global A&D Practice Leadership. Paid relocation is not available for this position.

  • Conduct research and analysis to support the A&D Aviation Industry Team business development priorities
    • Anticipate and analyze the impact of changing business, economic, legal, and industry issues on companies in the sector
    • Prepare insightful research on topics and trends impacting the A&D sector
    • Conduct financial, situation and performance analyses and research, which includes managing resources and identifying best sources for industry data
    • Ensure effective communication and coordination delivering high quality research to A&D Industry Team.
  • Identify and screen new business opportunities for the A&D Aviation Team
    • Identify potential prospect/target companies using a broad range of research tools,
    • Improve and evolve existing screening and analysis approaches
  • Provide strategic support to Business Development pursuits
    • Support teams in the development of insightful proposals for new business opportunities
    • Support Business Intelligence initiatives with the A&D Aviation Team, including thought pieces and studies.
    • Provide support to Account Management Teams across the A&D Global Team
  • Compile competitor and market intelligence to support the A&D Aviation Practice

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree required with preference for business/financial concentration.
  • Demonstrated experience in and passion for the Aerospace & Defense sector, with a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a research-driven business development role from professional services or industry.
  • Track record of conducting value added market research and analysis, including analysis of private and public company performance, and supporting commercial proposal development, ideally for the A&D sector.
  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative research to support business development.
  • Comfort with analyzing financial statements to draw out insights on company performance.
  • Experience with government contracting in the Aerospace & Defense sector or with federal budget analysis is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence across teams, functions, and seniority levels, including partnering effectively with senior leaders.
  • Highly organized with excellent organizational skills with experience operating in time-sensitive, ambiguous environments, balancing competing priorities with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate analysis into clear insights and recommendations that inform decision-making.
  • Proficiency in using AI tools to support business development activities (e.g., accelerating research synthesis, prospect identification, and proposal development) for the Aerospace & Defense practice.
  • Proficient Excel, PowerPoint, and research database skills are critical. Experience in data management (SQL), visualization (Power BI, Tableau), and programming skills are differentiating skills, but not
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to deliver clear, concise, and executive-ready messaging. French and/or German language skills are a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, inclusion, and professionalism, fostering productive working relationships.
  • Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.

The salary range for this role takes into account a number of factors and is between $115,000/year - $130,000/year with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
