The Boston Globe is seeking a smart and dynamic reporter to cover retail and the consumer economy.
This is a big, fun job. We’re looking for someone who can bring readers under the hood at brand-name local companies from Dunkin and CVS to New Balance and T.J. Maxx, someone who will be plugged in to Boston’s diverse restaurant scene and stay on top of local supermarket drama (we’ll explain later), someone who can chronicle the evolution of both brick-and-mortar retail and the on-demand economy, someone who will regularly break news on some of New England’s most prominent institutions.
On top of that, we need a reporter who can step back and do smart stories about how we consume now, about how the internet and AI are changing our habits and how the high cost of, well, everything is impacting our communities and culture.
You’d be doing this at one of the biggest regional newspapers in the country, as part of a robust Business staff that emphasizes stories about how the economy affects the lives of everyday New Englanders. We are creative and collaborative, ambitious and enterprising. If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet.
