Job Description

SEWS — Farmington Hills, Michigan Office. Although located at SEWS – Farmington Hills Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work. Associates are required to work at least four days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.

JOB TITLE: Business Planner I

BASIC PURPOSE:

The Business Planner I is responsible for cost accounting activities related to wire harness products, including cost estimation, cost registration, profitability tracking, and standard cost maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepare quotations for auto wire harness costs during each stage of product development.
  2. Accurately register component and wire costs in the Cost Accounting System.
  3. Respond to quotation requests and register costs for other departments.
  4. Implement cost-reduction activities in collaboration with the Wire Harness Business Department, parent companies in Japan, and sister companies, primarily in Southeast Asia.
  5. Monitor the profitability of the Wire Harness Business Department and prepare analyses and reports for management, including the parent companies.
  6. Develop and maintain standard product costs for materials and finished goods in SEWS’ proprietary Cost Accounting System.
  7. Perform other duties assigned by management, including collaboration with other departments.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 1-3 years business accounting/finance experience.
  • Experience in the automotive parts industry or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience working for a global or international corporation is a plus.
  • Experience with cost accounting, cost estimation, profitability analysis, or standard cost maintenance is preferred.
  • Above-average Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Native-level proficiency in spoken and written Japanese required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
