The role of the Commercial Product Marketing Portfolio Strategist is to strengthen intersection points between product launch functions within Business Personal Systems to steer and influence insight-led creation of value propositions, product marketing messaging, and narrative positioning across the Commercial portfolio and product lifecycle.

They possess a unique mastery and are the subject matter expert on portfolio strategy, future innovation roadmaps, positioning frameworks, and strategic narratives, ensuring alignment across current and future offerings.

Their focus is on creating clear line-of-sight across the portfolio—from category to product line to individual products—ensuring strategic fluidity, differentiation, and coherence moving from current to future innovations. They act as the central portfolio strategist and connective lead across Business Insights, ELT, Strategy & Planning, Product GBU teams, BPS NPI, Category/4P Comms, and Commercial Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive end-to-end portfolio positioning strategy across portfolio → product line → series → product (PLs: Notebooks, Desktops, Thin Clients, Chrome, Fortis Education Devices)

  • Develop and operationalize portfolio frameworks, navigation storybooks, and playbooks

  • Partner with research teams to frame messaging and positioning tests and translate insights into strategy

  • Drive cross-functional alignment across GBU, NPI, Creative, and Comms

  • Serve as AI strategy and application expert and scale AI-driven workflows

  • Manage OEM messaging alignment and embargo guidance

  • Translate strategy into market-ready toolkits and guidance

  • Mentor teams and elevate portfolio-level thinking

  • Serve as team lead, supporting the manager and elevating the most prominent products within the business. This includes planning through to execution and sustaining, beside Product Marketing Leads.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Highly efficient, creative self-starter to lead and drive workstreams to meet critical deadlines.

  • Proven ability to lead insight- and data-driven planning that informs world-class briefs, creative outputs, and positioning narratives

  • Strong storytelling and executive communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively

  • Advanced PowerPoint and project management capabilities, managing multiple complex workstreams simultaneously

  • Deep understanding of portfolio marketing, social, content, and media strategies

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate data (Excel/Smartsheets), extract insights, and recommend actions

  • Ability to balance creativity with strategic and data-driven thinking to develop differentiated marketing approaches

  • Experience with budget planning, operational rigor, and process management, with accountability for outcomes

  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and elevate team members and cross-functional partners

  • Strong influence and collaboration skills, with experience engaging and aligning senior executives and stakeholders across regions and functions

  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions and drive alignment across teams, functions, and business groups

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent (Master degree or equivalent preferred)

  • 10+ years of work experience in related field

The pay range for this role is$130,700to$205,200USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
