The Role:

Business Performance Support Manager ensures effective analysis of data and effective coordination of functional teams in support of optimal business performance.

The role works with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Financial Planning and Analysis, Pricing and other teams to ensure their respective contributions and performance are aligned and optimised, risks are effectively identified and mitigated, and business targets are met or exceeded.

Accountabilities:

Commercial and Financial Management

  • Reviews and analyses expenditure on a continuous basis, ensuring target KPIs are met and efficiency is optimised.
  • Uses data to analyse financial performance, identifying risks and mitigations and proactively suggesting improvements to processes and strategies in support of optimal business results.
  • Provides data-driven input to inform commercial strategy and business planning.
  • Supports the Head of Market in developing the country business growth strategy across the Learning and Assessment business portfolio, including writing business cases, developing detailed expansion plans and ensuring centre / venue expansion projects are delivered successfully.

Analysis and Reporting

  • Uses management and market information to make recommendations on improvements to ways of working that enhance efficiency and revenue growth.
  • Works closely with global teams to ensure the profitability of products and services, including ensuring fee positioning best supports achievement of strategic market objectives and optimal business results. .
  • Partners with relevant functional team leads to produce income forecasts and optimise the B2C sales pipeline.
  • Analyses and reports on variances against business plans, suggesting adjustments and corrective actions as appropriate based on data and evidence.

Market & Customer Intelligence

  • Collates and presents market, customer and business performance insights to inform marketing strategy and plans.
  • Compiles market intelligence reports, including competition, pricing, SWOT and PESTLE analysis to support the identification of opportunities.

Relationship and Stakeholder management

  • Works closely with key internal stakeholders, including Global Pricing, Proposition and B2O Commercial as well as global and local financial and procurement colleagues to ensure decisions support improved business performance.

Risk and Compliance

  • Assesses a range of risks into business delivery and ensures appropriate contingency plans are in place.
  • Investigates any reported instances of non-compliance with corporate risk management policies and takes appropriate remedial action.

Role Specific Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience of managing commercial risk
  • Experience of managing legal and operational compliance
  • Business management experience, including understanding drivers of growth and interpretation of financial and resource data to inform business decisions.
  • Experience using customer insights and data to enhance business performance.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in international and multi-cultural organisations.

Certification and Professional Qualifications: Management accountancy qualification (desirable)

Language Requirements:

The working language of the British Council is English.

English to CEFR level C1 or higher.

Spanish to CEFR level B2 or higher.
