Posting Date: 06th November 2026

Function: Finance

Location: London, Bristol or Birmingham

Flexible Working: The BT group operates a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week

About the role

The Retail channel encompasses traditional own stores and franchise operations, alongside emerging growth areas such as Community Engagement Partners, Field Sales and Store-in-Store partnerships (e.g. Costco). Over the past four years, Retail has continued to grow, supported by significant investment to enhance store capability and drive the wider local strategy.

This is a key role in supporting the delivery of Consumer's financial objectives. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of Retail performance, providing commercial and financial insight while constructively challenging leaders on business performance, cost management and investment decisions.

You will also play an important role in supporting the strategic local agenda, which is backed by significant investment and sponsorship from the Consumer CEO. The role will provide exposure to high-profile strategic priorities, with work often linked directly to requests from the Consumer CEO, particularly around the future direction of the retail store estate, including own stores, franchise operations and wider local initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity to rapidly build your knowledge of the Retail business and its associated channels, while developing your communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills. You will also have the opportunity to apply best-in-class analytical techniques to generate insight and support senior management decision-making.

The role also includes line management responsibility for one Grade E colleague, providing an opportunity to develop your coaching and people leadership skills.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead on summarising the Retail financial position and performance for budgeting, RLT meetings and CFO/Director reviews. Deputise at Retail Leadership Team meetings as required.
  • Develop business cases linked to the store estate and wider store estate strategy, including investment decisions, closures, openings, consolidations and the optimisation of stores, alongside local and franchise strategies.
  • Lead Post-Investment Reviews, collating financial and non-financial data and producing outputs for senior management review.
  • Oversee store profitability reporting and lead subsequent performance reviews with Store Directors.
  • Coordinate with Business Partners to track risks and opportunities relating to EE Property.
  • Manage risks to the MTP within Retail Property, collaborating with the wider Retail team on TLC and Other Costs.
  • Support month-end processes by tracking actual spend against target and prior year, investigating variances with Central Finance and ensuring financial accuracy and understanding.
  • Track Retail CAPEX spend, produce reports and support Project Managers with actuals and forecasting.
  • Challenge purchase orders and expenditure, providing approvals through SAP RP1/SRM

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge Business Partners and provide meaningful commercial insight.
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, using strong collaboration, influencing and communication skills to share knowledge and achieve the best outcomes for Consumer.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement and effective decision-making in ambiguous situations, including when working with incomplete information or managing differing opinions.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Ability to identify issues, establish root causes and use financial analysis and insight to diagnose and solve problems.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to model scenarios and work confidently with large data sets.
  • Demonstrable professionalism, with the ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced business environment.
