The Business Operations Senior Analyst, reporting to the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge (ERIK) Senior Business Operations Manager, supports special initiatives designed to enhance cross-functional and cross-unit process alignment. In this capacity, the role serves as a resource and provides input on strategic process improvements within research operations, with an emphasis on continuous improvement, high quality customer service and the delivery of efficient, accurate, and compliant work products.

The analyst utilizes strong knowledge of research administration, institutional policies, financial processes, and business process evaluation, along with a demonstrated understanding of problem-solving methodologies and strong critical thinking skills, to inform and advance operational enhancements.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring key business processes within ERIK business operations.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate execution of project activities.
  • Preparing reports and dashboards for leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Developing job aids, standard operating procedures, workflow documentation, and data visualization tools to support consistent business practices across the research enterprise, with a focus on continuous improvement, process standardization, and scalability aligned to operational excellence principles.

The role contributes to strategic planning efforts, supports process improvement initiatives, conducts data analysis and benchmarking, and leads or assists with special projects assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required

  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office, including Visio

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with various stakeholders (e.g., faculty, finance, research administration).

Desired Qualifications

  • 4–8 years of relevant experience preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.

  • Energetic, creative problem-solving‑ approach.

  • Demonstrated competence in the technical and cognitive skills necessary to perform essential responsibilities.

  • Experience with Ohio State policies and systems.

Additional Information:

Salary

The salary range for this job profile is $70,100 - $91,600. The offer for this position may fall within this range based on multiple factors including internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
