Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is hiring! Join us in preserving what people care about most – access to the outdoors, natural habitats, open spaces, clean water, and safe infrastructure. Virginia State Park's Business and Revenue division is accepting applications for a Business Operations Coordinator position.

As a Business Operations Coordinator, you will:

  • Serve as the Special Use Permit/Commercial Use Permit Program manager.
  • Provide Park business analysis and recommendations to park managers.
  • Oversee statewide venue rental and special events revenue growth.
  • Develop new revenue streams and ensure revenue operations align with mission and sustainability goals.
  • Expand revenue-generating offerings and support revenue event operations.
  • Conduct at least 18 on-site visits annually.
  • Monitor industry best practices in conference hosting, rental venue operations, and concerts.
  • Develop and implement guidelines and training for all aspects of revenue generation outside of retail.
  • Review and recommend fee changes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to apply and communicate detailed knowledge of conference, wedding, and concert venue operations and management.
  • Experience evaluating Special Use and Commercial Use Permits
  • Experience evaluating revenues and expenditures and responding to business fluctuations.
  • Experience establishing revenue and profit goals using data and trends.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong financial forecasting and budgeting skills.
  • Experience developing guidelines, rules, and manuals.
  • Experience in business administration or equivalent experience.

Additional Considerations

  • Experience in state park venue management.
  • Experience managing multiple types of venue operations.
  • Experience managing state park special use and commercial use permits.
  • Experience with eVA and Microsoft products.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

Please note: The duties and responsibilities of this position allow for flexibility in duty location, with a minimum of 3 days a month reporting to the Central Office in Richmond, VA.
