Job Description

Business Operations Analyst

Omaha, Nebraska

We're hiring a Business Operations Analyst to keep the business running cleanly. This is not a coordinator role. It's not a support role. It's the role that makes sure deals actually close, customers actually get invoiced, vendors actually get paid, and leadership actually has the data they need to make decisions. If something falls through the cracks at Workshop, it's probably in this person's domain, and that's exactly why we need someone who finds that energizing, not exhausting.

This role exists to make sure Workshop operates with the rigor and reliability of a company twice our size, without the bureaucracy.

As a Business Operations Analyst, you will:

  • Own the billing operations lifecycle end to end, from contract execution to invoice generation to payment collection.
  • Own the administrative side of closing deals — managing vendor registrations, business insurance forms, supplier onboarding paperwork, and other requirements to get new clients up and running.
  • Run our R&D tax credit process annually, working with our external accountant to compile qualifying expenses, employee time allocations, and supporting documentation.
  • Own business insurance: renewals, certificates of insurance, policy tracking, and coordinating with our broker when coverage questions come up.
  • Build and maintain reporting that gives leadership a clear view of cash, spend, AR aging, and billing health.
  • Continuously improve how the team operates by identifying breakdowns and building better processes.
  • Handle "other duties as assigned" with genuine ownership.

To be successful in this position, you'll need to have:

  • A bias toward action: you see something that needs doing and you do it, without waiting to be asked.
  • Extreme attention to detail: you catch the typo in the contract, the duplicate line item on the invoice, and the payment that's been sitting open for 47 days.
  • Strong organizational instincts: you can hold a lot of open threads at once and nothing falls through the cracks.
  • A process-building mindset: you don't just complete tasks, you ask how to make sure it never has to be done manually again.
  • Clear, professional written communication: you'll be talking to customers, vendors, and internal teams, and the quality of that communication reflects on Workshop.
  • The ability to work independently and make good judgment calls: you ask when you need to, but you're not waiting for permission to do your job.
  • Genuine curiosity about how businesses work. Billing, cash flow, contracts, insurance, taxes: you find this stuff interesting, not tedious.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with a billing or subscription management platform
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets: pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, structured models from scratch
  • Familiarity with business insurance (GL, E&O, D&O, cyber) and what COIs actually mean
  • Experience with R&D tax credit documentation or working with a tax advisor on qualifying activities
  • Any exposure to revenue operations
  • Experience in a SaaS company with recurring revenue, renewals, or expansion billing
  • SQL or data analysis experience — you're comfortable pulling and interpreting data on your own.
  • A track record of wearing multiple hats.
  • High growth startup and SaaS experience.

The person who will thrive here isn't someone who needs a fully built playbook to follow. Most of the playbook doesn't exist yet, and part of this job is writing it. We're a lean team that moves fast and trusts each other to own things completely. If you're the kind of person who finishes a task and immediately starts thinking about how to make sure it never has to be done manually again, you'll fit right in.
