This role brings together people leadership, research financial management, and close partnership with division leaders and investigators.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and support a team of financial and administrative professionals, setting clear priorities, balancing workload, and reinforcing accountability.
  • Oversee post-award research financial activities, including regular financial reporting, expenditure review, forecasting, issue resolution, and sponsor-compliant award management.
  • Partner with the Senior Business Director and division leadership on the annual fiscal-year budget and ongoing financial performance.
  • Support financial administration for faculty research portfolios, including monthly or quarterly reporting based on investigator needs.
  • Coordinate with Sponsored Programs and other institutional partners on award requirements, subawards, invoicing, reporting, and deliverables.
  • Help maintain training-grant activity and other complex sponsored research portfolios.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of business operations and human resource administration for multiple programs or cost centers.
  • Build productive working relationships with faculty, research teams, business partners, and institutional offices.

What Will Help You Be Successful

  • Clear, confident people leadership and the ability to help experienced staff make sound decisions.
  • Ability to organize competing priorities and keep complex work moving across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and practical problem-solving with partners who may have urgent or highly detailed needs.
  • Comfort learning the nuances of specialized research programs and adapting to different faculty portfolios.
  • Financial judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to explain financial information in a useful way.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting sponsored research, grants, post-award administration, or research finance.
  • People-management, team-lead, or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in an academic medical center, hospital, university, research foundation, or similarly complex research environment.
  • Knowledge of institutional research systems and processes; internal institutional knowledge is helpful but not required.
  • Experience supporting high-volume or complex research portfolios and partnering with principal investigators.
