We have an opportunity for a Business Manager (Chief Executive Business Manager) to join the Corporate Governance Team within Corporate Services initially for a 6 month period.

Disclosure Scotland is an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government, operating on behalf of the Scottish Ministers, to perform an important safeguarding role for the people of Scotland. Disclosure Scotland is responsible for managing and delivering the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and processing applications for disclosure certificates which enable safer recruitment decisions to be made by employers.

As part of the Corporate Governance Team within Corporate Services, the Business Manager works at the core of Disclosure Scotland, providing a link between the Chief Executive / Accountable Officer, Executive Team and the wider organisation. The role supports the leadership and management of Disclosure Scotland through strategic coordination, governance support, performance monitoring and organisational insight. The postholder enables the Chief Executive and Executive Team to make informed decisions, maintain organisational oversight and drive delivery of strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Chief Executive, intelligently analysing their commitments and proactively arranging events where necessary, building a comprehensive grasp of the business priorities of the Chief Executive.
• Accompany the Chief Executive/Deputy Chief Executive(s) to meetings and engagements as needed, taking comprehensive records of meetings, and providing business support. This will include arranging and coordinating travel and other practical arrangements such as business hospitality for guests and visiting stakeholders when needed.
• Undertake projects and tasks as agreed with the Chief Executive and execute these in alignment with Disclosure Scotland strategies in a timely manner.
• Undertake information gathering and analysis on behalf of the Chief Executive and wider Leadership Team to provide intelligence and advice on complex issues by collaborating with in-house experts.
• Handle extremely sensitive information (including HR information) with integrity, in line with the civil service code and GDPR.
• Ensure delivery against performance targets and procedures.
• Engage across the whole organisation to understand progress and challenges in all our projects, represent the Chief Executive’s vision there and provide advice to the Leadership Team about new opportunities and requirements.
• Draft and co-ordinate high quality papers for governing groups, including the Disclosure Scotland Board and Audit and Risk Committee as required.
• Provide assistance to the Corporate Governance team as required.

Working pattern

This role is a temporary position with an expected commitment of 6 months.
