About the teamAbout the role:

The Daffodil Centre is a strategic initiative of the Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW) and the University of Sydney, underpinned by a formal affiliation and collaboration agreement. As a world-leading population and health services cancer research centre, it provides key evidence to influence policy decisions and real-world improvements along the cancer continuum. The Centre combines the complementary strengths of CCNSW and the University of Sydney to create a centre of national and international research excellence where research contributes to a cancer free future.

The Business Manager plays a critical role in supporting the effective operation of The Daffodil Centre by providing high-level business, operational, financial, and administrative support to the Director and leadership team. The role is responsible for coordinating key business activities, managing financial and grant processes, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and ensuring the efficient delivery of organisational priorities.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Manage the Director’s complex diary, meetings, calendars, and logistics while supporting the day-to-day operations of The Daffodil Centre.
• Coordinate budget monitoring, grant and clinical trial funding administration, partnership agreements, and financial reconciliation processes in collaboration with finance and leadership teams.
• Lead grant management activities, including application submissions, milestone tracking, deliverables monitoring, and preparation of progress and acquittal reports.
• Develop, maintain, and improve operational systems, documentation, reports, correspondence, presentations, and administrative processes to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
• Manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships, coordinate consumer panel activities, and ensure effective communication, reporting, and support across collaborative initiatives.

About you:

Essential:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience, with a proven track record of providing high-level executive and operational support to senior leaders.
• Strong business acumen and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes within timeframes and budget requirements.
• Experience managing financial administration, grant processes, governance, compliance, reporting obligations, and accurate record-keeping.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing professional reports and presentations and building productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Advanced technology proficiency, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously while exercising sound judgement, discretion, and confidentiality.
