A Joint Venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), Thales Alenia Space is a global space manufacturer delivering, for more than 40 years, high-tech solutions for telecommunications, navigation, Earth Observation, environmental management, exploration, science and orbital infrastructures. Thanks to our diversity of skills, talents and cultures, our customers (governments, institutions, space agencies, telecommunications operators), therefore have Space to Connect, Secure & Defend, Observe & Protect, Explore, Travel & Navigate.
Thales Alenia Space (TAS) is looking for an experienced Business Managed Network (BMN) & Cybersecurity Specialist to join our Operations team in Italy. This position plays a critical role in coordinating BMN management at the OPS-IT level, collaborating closely both with Business and the Information System.
A Business Managed Network (BMN) is a platform or an environment used by the business to support a customer, customer project or transversal function. A BMN can range from a single computer or test bench, completely isolated from the network, to a full-fledged production environment, with links to partners and hybrid cloud resources. These environments and platforms, commonly known as BMNs often incorporate major innovations and are at the forefront of the technologies used by the TAS. They may also have been designed to meet the needs of customers or industrial environments. Essential to the successful delivery of our services and products, Business Managed Networks may nevertheless present vulnerabilities to advanced attacks or may attract the attention of cybercriminals.
The role is focused on maintaining up-to-date BMN security standards, identifying and addressing obsolete/non-compliant assets, preparing and implementing substitution plans in coordination with Cyber teams, and ensuring all environments fully comply with the latest European cybersecurity directives.
The European Union’s Directive on Security of Network and Information Systems (NIS2) aims to strengthen cybersecurity for essential services and digital infrastructure across the EU. NIS2 extends its predecessor by adding new critical sectors and enforcing stricter security requirements and reporting obligations. As a manufacturer of satellites, TAS is deemed an “essential” entity by national cybersecurity authorities, making full compliance with NIS2 a strategic imperative for our company.
Job Purpose / Mission
The BMN & Cybersecurity Specialist plays a pivotal role in protecting Thales Alenia Space’s information assets and infrastructure. The mission is to ensure the integrity, availability, and resilience of BMN environments by implementing robust cybersecurity and risk management practices, rigorous asset control, and full compliance with regulatory frameworks such as NIS2. This position aims to safeguard data, maintain business continuity, and foster a culture of “security by design” across all operations, supporting Thales Alenia Space’s status as an essential and trusted satellite manufacturer within the European space industry.
