Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Join UCLA Health Performance Strategy & Analytics and play a pivotal role in advancing data-driven decision-making across the health system. This position provides advanced analytical leadership and strategic support for complex initiatives that drive operational excellence, performance improvement, and clinical outcomes.

The incumbent leads high-impact projects requiring sophisticated analytics, business intelligence expertise, and innovative data solutions. Working closely with executive leadership, clinical stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, this role develops and delivers actionable insights that support organizational goals, performance strategies, and key clinical initiatives.

Key responsibilities include coordinating analytics efforts to ensure the collection and reporting of standardized, high-quality data; supporting the development and enhancement of clinical dashboards; providing performance improvement insights to committees and leadership groups; and partnering with senior executives to establish, monitor, and achieve strategic clinical performance objectives.

This position also leverages deep expertise in healthcare data, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Generative AI to design, build, and evaluate advanced analytical solutions that improve workflow efficiency, operational effectiveness, and patient outcomes. The incumbent identifies opportunities to apply emerging technologies and AI-driven innovations to solve complex healthcare challenges.

In addition, this role serves as a mentor and technical leader within the department, contributing to the development of training programs, best practices, and curriculum designed to strengthen the analytical capabilities of junior team members.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works effectively with minimal supervision, and collaborates successfully across diverse teams. A strong commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and leveraging technology to create efficient, scalable processes is essential for success in this role.

Salary Range: $ 99,100 - $216,500 annually


Job Qualifications

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Business Management or a related field.
• Advanced skill in Python, AI/ML tools, Tableau/PowerPoint, SQL, R, Excel

• 8+ years of experience in Clinical Data Analytics, Statistics, and Quality Measures

• 8+ years of experience in advanced analytical and quantitative skills

· 1+ years Prompt engineering in healthcare workflow projects

• Support AI-enabled analytics or automation use cases using structured and unstructured data

· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Project management skills

• Excellent understanding of the industry-specific issues, regulatory requirements, and current healthcare industry

• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced and creative environment

• Ability to think “outside-the-box” and be creative to accomplish departmental goals

• Ability to prioritize work and remain detail oriented

• Ability to lead System wide complex projects

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED:

MS in Data Science, quantitative analytical fields

5+ year in Python, SQL, and Tableau/PowerPoint experience

5+ year experience in data science (LLM), data management and data analysis

3+ year experience in healthcare industry

3+ year experience in project management
