The Business Intelligence Analyst I is responsible for simple to moderately complex data analysis, preparation and visualization. They will use their technical and domain expertise to translate data into meaningful insights for teams and leaders to confidently take action on. The ideal candidate will be passionate about all things data, and we seek a creative and analytical thinker to help us solve our most challenging problems. This position will work closely with technical and project teams, as well as business teams across the Dental & Vision Network organization Business Analysts, BI Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Engineers and directly with the business units for requirements gathering and validation.
Job Specifications
Bachelors Degree preferred, and/or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in a data analytics or technical analytical role
Proficient experience using SQL (SSMS),
Experience with BI and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, or similar)
Advanced proficiency in Excel
Demonstrated ability to translate business questions into technical solutions
Familiarity with Python or other analytics programming languages
Experience with Salesforce or API‑based data environments
Exposure to Access, VBA, or Power Query
Understanding of data profiling, statistical analysis, and basic data modeling concepts
Experience working with data warehouses, transactional databases, and structured datasets
Strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
Ability to balance priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct data profiling and analysis to evaluate and identify the best data sources for business needs
Acquire, transform, and translate data into dashboards, reports, datasets, and analytical outputs
Perform statistical analyses and present findings that inform decision‑making and guide leadership
Support recurring and ad‑hoc reporting requests through a shared analytics request queue
Collaborate with technical and project teams, and data engineers on data validation, testing, and quality assurance
Work directly with internal customers to refine requirements, validate outputs, and ensure solutions meet expectations
Provide technical support for in‑flight projects across data teams and the broader organization
Develop a strong understanding of internal systems, databases, and operational processes
Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute actionable recommendations

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$60,500.00-$123,400.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
