Are you right for Goodwill?

For over five decades, Goodwill of Southern Arizona has been dedicated to helping individuals in our region overcome employment barriers through job training, career services, and community support. When you join our team, you're not just starting a job—you’re becoming part of a mission-driven organization committed to creating lasting change. If you're inspired by the idea of helping others achieve independence and success through meaningful work, we invite you to explore a fulfilling career with us.

How this role supports our mission:

The Business Intelligence Analyst develops, maintains, and expands Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona’s data analytics and business intelligence environment. This position serves as the organization’s primary technical resource for business intelligence development and reporting, supporting mission services, Workforce Development programs, retail operations, finance, and other organizational functions. The position assumes ownership of data solutions initially developed by an external consultant and is responsible for the long-term sustainability, accuracy, security, and growth of the organization’s analytics platform. Initial priorities include completing Workforce Development analytics and reporting solutions and supporting the future migration of retail business intelligence reporting into the enterprise analytics environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the organization’s values at all times.
  • Own the organization’s business intelligence environment, including the dashboards, dataflows, and applications.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing business intelligence solutions to keep them reliable, scalable, and supportable over time.
  • Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and scorecards that support operational, programmatic, and executive decision-making.
  • Partner with Workforce Development leadership to define reporting, grant-reporting, and outcome-tracking needs.
  • Build data collection forms and workflows for programs or processes that lack a source system.
  • Build data integrations that collect, clean, validate, and combine data from internal and external sources.
  • Write SQL queries, calculated fields, and scripts to support reporting, analysis, and automation.
  • Establish and monitor data quality controls to keep organizational data accurate, complete, and current.
  • Document data sources and reporting logic so solutions stay maintainable without relying on any one person.
  • Support the retail reporting migration by inventorying existing reports, validating calculations, and rebuilding solutions as needed.
  • Automate reporting, monitoring, and alerts to reduce manual effort and speed up access to information.
  • Work with department leaders to standardize definitions, metrics, and reporting practices across the organization.
  • Train users on dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics tools.
  • Apply security, privacy, and access-control standards to reports, dashboards, and datasets.
  • Evaluate new analytics and AI tools that offer real business value and validate their outputs before use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we require from you:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing and supporting business intelligence, analytics, data reporting, or related solutions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, including data extraction, validation, transformation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Experience developing dashboards, datasets, and reporting solutions using a cloud-based business intelligence platform.
  • Experience integrating and transforming data from multiple systems, databases, cloud applications, spreadsheets, application programming interfaces (APIs), and other organizational data sources.
  • Experience supporting, documenting, and enhancing existing analytics solutions developed by others.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, relational databases, calculations, aggregation methods, and business intelligence concepts.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality practices, documentation standards, security, privacy, and access controls.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to independently identify and resolve technical and business issues.
  • Ability to gather requirements and translate business needs into practical and maintainable technical solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
