Location:

1301 S Lamar Blvd , Austin, Texas, 78704

Alamo Drafthouse is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to serve as the company's lead data expert, building the reporting and data infrastructure that lets Operations, Marketing, Development, and Finance trust the numbers they're making decisions on.

This role reports directly to the VP of Finance and partners closely with Analytics Engineering within the IT team. The position works within a dbt-centric analytics stack (Snowflake, dbt, Omni) where every change to shared data models ships through Git and a pull request review, following software engineering best practices. Day-to-day work sits closer to SQL + dbt + Git than to drag-and-drop dashboard building. You'll be equally responsible for hands-on technical work and for building consensus across departments on what a metric means and which system is the source of truth for it.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A fun workplace where you can be yourself and do awesome work!
  • Free movies & food
  • Paid time off
  • Competitive pay
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, and voluntary benefits are available for all full-time and part-time teammates

OUR MISSION:

To Ensure EVERY Guest and Teammate Has An AWESOME Experience And Is EXCITED To Come Back

LOCATION: This is a HYBRID position; we are actively prioritizing candidates based in or near Austin, TX (preferred) OR Los Angeles, CA.

CORE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and maintain BI reports, dashboards, and datasets covering multi-unit performance across our theaters — box office, food & beverage, marketing performance, labor, inventory, and guest experience metrics.
  • Translate evolving, cross-functional business requirements from Operations, Marketing, Development, and Finance into clear, well-scoped data visualizations.
  • Build and optimize data models within our dbt transformation layer, and drive continuous improvement in reporting processes.
  • Establish and maintain a shared metrics glossary and consistent data definitions across departments.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex BI, data modeling, and reconciliation issues.
  • Foster data democratization across the organization, including training and documentation so business users adopt self-service tools confidently.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence.
  • Nice to Haves, but not a must
  • Direct hands-on experience with Snowflake (or a comparable cloud data warehouse platform such as BigQuery or Redshift).
  • Direct hands-on experience with Omni specifically.
  • Python or another object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience supporting a multi-unit, brick-and-mortar business model (i.e. cinema, restaurants, hotels, retail, grocery, or similar).
  • Strong, daily-use SQL skills, with the ability to write and optimize complex queries against large, multi-source datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt (or a comparable SQL-based transformation framework), including comfort working within a large, shared model codebase.
  • Working proficiency with Git/GitHub and a pull-request-based code review workflow.
  • Experience building semantic models and dashboards in a modern BI platform (e.g., Omni, Looker/LookML, or similar).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice to Haves, but not a must

  • Direct hands-on experience with Snowflake (or a comparable cloud data warehouse platform such as BigQuery or Redshift).
  • Direct hands-on experience with Omni specifically.
  • Python or another object-oriented programming language.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lifting and moving up to 30lbs
  • Sitting for long periods of time

OUR CORE VALUES:

DO THE RIGHT THING

We strive to be a force of good in our company, in our industry and in the world. We stand up for our beliefs even when it is hard. We start from a place of kindness.

FOSTER COMMUNITY

We value what is unique about each other and celebrate our differences. We treat each other with respect, support each other’s passions, and help each other grow. We welcome healthy debate but don’t tolerate intolerance. We take this commitment outside our 4 walls, creating neighborhood theaters that are deeply tied to the local community.

About Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

“The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is good food, good beer and good film, all at the same place!”

That’s how we described ourselves in 1997, and that mission hasn’t changed and will never, ever change. For over two decades we’ve worked to make the Alamo Drafthouse experience the best cinematic experience in the world. Here’s how.

We don’t just want to be another multiplex. Everyone who works at Alamo Drafthouse, from the managers to the servers to the kitchen staff, is passionate about film.

To us, the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe can be just as worthy of attention and celebration as a foreign language drama. Through our Drafthouse Recommends program we've committed ourselves to helping innovative and challenging films like GET OUT, THE FLORIDA PROJECT, and CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, and find an audience.

Celebrating classic cinema is also something we take seriously. Whether it’s an interactive Movie Party presentation of a timeless classic, a chef-inspired feast with a menu paired to a film, or a re-evaluation of a lost gem, we love sharing the movies we love with Alamo Drafthouse audiences of all ages.

When you see a movie at Alamo Drafthouse, you get cold drinks, delicious meals and tasty local beers, brought to your seat by a server. Need a free refill on your popcorn or soda? Raise an order card and we’ll get it taken care of quickly.

Each Alamo Drafthouse's menu has food, snacks & dessert prepared fresh from locally sourced ingredients. Plus, our chefs regularly create special menus inspired by classic cinema and big upcoming blockbusters, like an all-Pakistani menu curated by Kumail Nanjiani for THE BIG SICK or a take on African flavors for BLACK PANTHER.

Beer is our middle name at Alamo Drafthouse, so we make certain that every Alamo Drafthouse location highlights and promotes the best local craft breweries. Our bar staff also loves to innovate, and are constantly mixing up new cocktail creations that’ll elevate the cinematic experience.
